Hidden in a secret forest garden lies Sala Thongyon, a 10 room guest house comprising wooden bungalows built in local style by two Lao sisters. Each double room has its own décor featuring traditional fabrics and local village décor with a balcony overlooking the garden. Ensuite bathrooms are western style, simple and functional. Breakfast available on request, cooked to order, e.g. Lao or organic eggs done any style with baguette. Coffee, herbal and local teas are available any time. The guesthouse will also make or fetch traditional Savannakhet food for you for breakfast, lunch or dinner – this is a special opportunity to take up. It is 1.5 km to the Mekong river and 2 km to the bus station. The guesthouse also has a large fishpond and collection of basketry, farming and other Lao artifacts collected and on display.
